Flying South

Autumn tends to be a wistful time of year for me.
I love its fiery beauty, the brilliant colors on the tree
Yet, I think in another life, I must have been a goose
because when I see geese flyng south, I wish I was, too
Now, don't mistake me, I love the fall, it's a gorgeous time of year
I just dread what follows after, 'tis the endless northern winter that I fear
I know some of you will say, come on, love all seasons, winter's not so bad
winter may even be shorter than ever, thanks to climate change, so don't be sad.
Well, I wouldn't mind a shorter winter, though not at the ozone's cost
So please forgive my lack of winter wonderment, I'll leave that to Jack Frost
And if you love the winter, have fun in the snow and ice, my hat to you, I toss

far away south under sunny skies, bidding early winter a fond, yet not final, goodbye
‘tis true, a very silly goose, am I , and perhaps ever shall I be
A dream I have is that in winters to come, you and I together shall flee
to warmer climes, with sultry days and gentle nights, to live a life frost free
However this may come to pass, I know we shall have to wait and see
but somehow I know that a criss crossing of our paths and more is yet to be
and this in itself is a wonderful thought , that fills me full of glee

Autumn may not bring you much joy, but it certainly makes you so poetic :)
This is so authentic, playful and genuine as if you expressed my deepest sentiments, the ones I don't admit to myself for I also love the fall colors, but do not feel so joyful about the cold gloomy rainy days when joy is the last thing on our minds, but we keep on trying & smiling…
So lovely violet flame, don't dread the inevitable cold to come, embrace whatever you can and try to enjoy the rest even if it is through endless dark and rainy nights. Remember the daydream, take a ride on a goose, snuggle with a loved one and wink at the mirror…
